You can reach the Trevi Fountain from Via del Tritone turning left into Via della Stamperia, which leads to the Trevi Fountain, certainly the most celebrated fountain in Rome. Constructed in 1732 to 1762 the fountain is the work of Nicola Salvi a famous Baroque period architect who unfortunately died before the fountain could be completed (he spent many months underground overseeing the intricate and complicated plumbing system which has remained largely untouched to this day. Indeed, the water that supplies the Trevi Fountain comes from the Acqua Vergine Acqueduct built by Marcus Agrippa's soldiers over 2000 years ago!
The fountain was immortalised by the night-time wading of Anita Ekberg in Federico Fellini's film "La Dolce Vita'.
